Hasbro | Re-engineering a classic
Who are Hasbro?
Hasbro are one of the largest toy manufacturers in the world and the company behind many of the best known and loved brands such as Transformers, Play Doh, My Little Pony and Monopoly. Hasbro are committed to ‘creating the world’s best play experiences’ and positively impacting the lives of millions of children and families every year.
The Business Need
Downfall is an important part of Hasbro’s extensive brand and product range. This 2-player game was introduced in the 70s and is still a best-seller today. 4c were briefed to update the design of this classic game, taking into account player interaction, board construction, aesthetics, materials and manufacturing. Child’s play, it wasn’t.
Our Activities and Deliverables
4c carried out our own research into the Downfall game, then brainstormed around Hasbro’s brief to generate a range of design concepts for ‘New’ Downfall. We presented our concept sketches to Hasbro who asked us to further develop our ideas. We created a Computer Aided Design (CAD) model and provided Hasbro with photo-realistic renders to illustrate our new design. Our design passed Hasbro’s in-house concept selection and we delivered our CAD model to Hasbro’s engineers who took it forward into detailed design for manufacture.
The Result
Hasbro were delighted with our re-design. ‘New Downfall’ boasts an array of improved features and game play, whilst also delivering a significant reduction in production costs.
