For the second meeting we presented a number of concepts that fulfilled all the criteria agreed upon in the first meeting. We had to move away from the Mickey Mouse Concept for copyright purposes, but tried to stay true to the theme.
The two favoured concepts were the “Monkey Grab” concept and the “Walkies” concept. This was because they were seen as the least intrusive and most child friendly designs. The pelican was initially a favourite but it was decided that trying to explain to a child that this Pelican is going to ‘bite’ you was not the best idea.
We also looked at the functional design flaws in the current tool, feeling it was unwise to risk changing the calibration of the tool with any changes we thought it best to try to contact the tool manufacturer and seek a collaboration on the project.
