It was an early start as we met at 7:30am for a briefing, then boarding the ‘baton bus’ where we were delivered to our start locations. We had a great route as Will carried the Baton to the steps of the Glasgow School of Art where the press collected as he passed the baton to me to continue the relay into town.
It was surreal how it went from a quiet street early in the morning, to chaos as people gathered to catch a glimpse of the baton and the press fought to get pictures and video.
As designers of the baton, it was fantastic to see it again and see how it had coped with the rigors of its epic journey around the world passing through thousands of hands and tens of countries. We were proud to see it was still in as good condition as the day we built it. For images of the Baton’s journey before it returned to Glasgow, click here.
Not long now until the Baton reaches Celtic Park, to open the Commonwealth Games on the 23rd July 2014. We can only speculate what part it might play in the ceremony.
